Beautiful, intricate and exquisite, a wedding dress is one of the most important pieces of clothing you will ever wear. Here at the boutique, I offer an additional and specialised Couture Service for brides who are looking for a wedding dress that shows their personality and uniqueness; or for those brides that simply cannot find the dress that they are looking for. Whether the bride has ideas of her own, or simply wishes for a wedding dress to suit her shape, I will bring together my expertise and enthusiasm, born out of a genuine love for creating a bespoke gown, and provide a unique personal design service.
1 : Design Consultation
The initial design consultation allows me to get to know the bride, her requirements and her ideas.
I will discuss with you the style of your wedding day, your wedding venue, colour schemes, dress silhouettes, fabrics and budget. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to incorporate any ideas and concepts you may have around your wedding dress.
2 : Design and fabric selection.
The design presentation appointment, where I ‘unveil’ my initial concepts and sketches of your dress, follows the design consultation. A small selection of sketches are presented to you for your approval, and once the dress sketch has been chosen, then it’s time to choose the fabrics. You will be provided with a selection of fabrics types and colours, whilst still considering the style of dress that has been selected. At this stage I will provide an estimated quote based on style, fabrics suggested and complexity of design.
3 : Measurements and Toile Fitting
An initial set of measurements will be taken to allow me to create a toile version of the design – a calico mock-up of your gown to establish the correct fit, fall and style of the dress. At this stage, any alterations to the design and fit of the proposed dress can be made.
4 : Creation of your dress
The ‘magic’ begins when I start to cut, pin and sew together the finest silk garment pieces, ready for your first fitting. At the first fitting you will see your dress for the first time, however there will still be further finishing touches to complete such as hems, seams, checking of internal corset and fit. You may require up to 3 fittings while your dress is being created, prior to the final dress fitting. This gives you opportunity to see your dress evolve over the numerous garment construction stages required.
5 : Final Fitting
This will take place approximately 4 weeks before your wedding day, and is the final opportunity to make any minor adjustments to the size/fit of the dress. The end result is a truly unique gown, created from the finest fabrics and fitted to perfection.
My gift to you.
With every Couture gown I design and create, you will receive a final sketch of your beautiful bespoke dress, signed and mounted for you to place in your home, to remind you of the unique and personal experience you have experienced here at the boutique.
As each dress created is considered a one-of-a-kind, and therefore has its own individual price. However, if you would like to know more about starting prices for the Couture Service please contact the boutique.
